March 4, 2015 - Federal Contractors Outreach Opportunity for 503/VEVRAA Compliance - This panel discussion featured representatives from several local vocational rehabilitation organizations serving veterans and persons with disabilities. They outlined the scope of their services to employers and HR professionals, and contributed to a discussion and resolution of challenges faced by employers concerning 503/VEVRAA compliance.
2014 October 28, 2014 - Hiring Veterans: From Recruiting to Employing - This panel discussion brought together public and private sector employers, legal counsel, military representation and the HR community to discuss and resolve issues facing veterans as they re-enter the civilian workforce. The program also addressed changes to VEVRAA (Vietnam Era Readjustment Act of 1974) and contractor obligations under USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act).
October 8, 2014 - The Many New Obligations of Government Contractors - After a series of new executive orders imposed burdensome new requirements on government contractors, Mickey Silberman, attorney shareholder with Jackson Lewis law firm, led attendees through the complexities of the compliance process, including necessary changes to employment and HR policies and practices.
February 5, 2014 - Disability Awareness Like You've Never Heard Before - In response to the OFCCP's new Section 503 regs, OSWILG invited Dan Friess, executive director of Incight, a local non-profit with a mission of "unlocking the potential of people with disabilities," to lead a training on the topic of disability, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
October 24, 2013 - OFCCP's New Veterans and Disability Rules have Arrived, and They're Game Changers. What do you do now? Mickey Silberman, shareholder attorney with Jackson Lewis labor and employment law firm, advised attendees on compliance and managing the impact of the new rules on budgets, IT systems, staffing and training.
March 13, 2013 - EEOC Legal Update - Jeanne Goldberg, Sr Attorney Advisor in the Office of Legal Counsel at the US EEOC headquarters in Washington DC. Ms. Goldberg discussed the EEOC’s new
national priorities as outlined in the Strategic Enforcement Plan for Fiscal
Years 2013-2016 (adopted on December 17, 2012).
She also provided a legal update on advanced issues arising under
the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

May 24, 2012 - Insights from an EEOC Insider - Jeanne Goldberg, Sr Attorney Advisor in the Office of Legal Counsel at the US EEOC headquarters in Washington DC. Topics included Discrimination against pregnant workers and workers with caregiving responsibilities; The new final regulation on disparate impact and reasonable factors other than age under the ADEA; Overcoming barriers to the employment of veterans with disabilities; Arrest and
conviction records as a hiring barrier; and Use of leave as a reasonable accommodation.

aggressive approach in audits today and practical ways for employers to
respond. October 6, 2011 – Pay Discrimination: Aggressive
Enforcement, Increased Litigation and What You Should Do to Respond – Mickey Silberman, Jackson Lewis LLP. In this session, learn about pay
discrimination trends and practical implications for employers. Also, we’ll
describe the EEOC's and OFCCP's plans to put in place annual pay data reporting
forms (like EEO-1 reports) that will require employers to submit detailed,
sensitive employee pay data.
June 29, 2011 - 45th Anniversary of Executive Order 11246 - OSWILG celebrated OFCCP's 45th anniversary of the Executive Order 11246. Guest speakers included Leigh Jones, OFCCP Seattle/Portland District Director and Donna Hammond. Representatives from various community based organizations, contractors, veterans representatives, BOLI, EEOC and other agencies attended.
May 25, 2011 - Update: EEOC's Final ADAAA and GINA Regulations - Jeanne Goldberg, Sr Attorney Advisor in the Office of Legal Counsel at the US EEOC headquarters in Washington DC. The presentation focused on the final regulations just issed by the EEOC to implement the ADA Amendments Act, as well as the recent regulatons issued by the EEOC to implement the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act. Ms. Goldberg reviewed key features of the regulations and provided practical compliance advice.

Management Systems. - The panel discussed some of the tricks
to OFCCP-compliant applicant tracking and some of the traps that
contractors want to avoid.

highlights included EEOC Structure; Updates on pending EEOC rulemakings;
Updates on Major EEOC systemic litigation; and Updates on significant pending
litigation that is not systemic.
November 5, 2009 - OFCCP Mock Audit Presentation – Leigh Jones, District Director of the Seattle, Mike Rosenbalm, Area
Office Director for the Portland Area Office, and other OFCCP
representatives. This seminar provided
insight into the direction of the OFCCP for 2009 as well as presented a mock
audit. The Mock Audit presentation took contractors through the compliance
review process from desk audit to closure. It highlighted differences
between effective and ineffective implementation of an AAP.
